Performing Democracy – working title – is the initiation of a public, participatory Arte Útil performance that aims to gather a minimum of 300.000 performers on Sunday, 13 September 2026, across Sweden.

The performance is to vote the non-party O into the Swedish Parliament, by taking a blank ballot and writing the letter O on it. This act will optimize the Swedish representative democracy by making the option “none of the above” a valid (protest) vote. And, it will put pressure on all the other parties in parliament to stop the polarization – that they have created – and to start working together again for the benefit of all the voters.

The non-party O has no party-political program, except to represent those voters who choose not to vote for any of the available options, i.e. the voters who choose something else. O exists to represent the unrepresented and to vote against any and every proposal in parliament — as the only possible option to make the unrepresented voters represented in terms of parliamentary seats.
